• Monday - Higher Level WC at SC- 6:00-7:30
• Tuesday - Gunston WC at Hayfield- 6:30-8:00
• Wednesday - Higher Level WC at SC - 6:00-7:30
• Thursday - Gunston WC at Hayfield - 6:30-8:00

Steven Ours Wins State Championship

Junior Steven Ours won his first state title defeating Jared King of Great Bridge in the finals to lead the MatHawks to a 5th place finish at the 2007 Virginia AAA State Championships. Read more...

MatHawks 2nd at Northern Region Championships

The MatHawks score 153 points at the 2007 Northern Region Championship finishing in 2nd behind Langley Saxon's 165 points. They were lead by champions Junior Steven Ours (152) and Senior Zachary Grimsley (160). Read more...

Hayfield Wins Patriot District Championship

The MatHawks won the 2007 Patriot District Championhsip, their 8th District title in the past 11 years. The MaHawks also had 7 individual champions, a new team record. Read More...

MatHawks fall to Robinson

On rivalry Friday, Hayfield and Robinson both won 7 matches, but Robinson recorded 4 pins, and 2 technical falls to clain 38-37 victory over the MatHawks.

Ours 2nd, MatHawks 6th at USMC Ultimate Challenge

MatHawks clain Regular Season District Title

Hayfield defeated West Potomac 45-21 to claim the Patriot District regular season dual title. Hayfield finished district dual competition 7-0. The MatHawks also defeated Edison 56-17, and improved to 16-6 overall.

Hayfield goes 3-0 at Quad

Hayfield improved to 14-6 in the season, and 6-0 in Patriot District competition with victories over West Springfield, Lee, and McLean.

Hayfield goes 2-0 on Senior Night

Eight seniors, 135-Josh Claassen, 140-Seth Perrin, 145-Andre Scott, 160-Zach Grimsley, 171-Robert DeSano, 189-Daniel Rogers, 215-Nahom Hagos, and 215-Abu Ali, all wrestled their final home matches at Hayfield last night.  The MatHawks deafeated Annanadale and Lake Braddock to improve to 4-0 in district competition.

JV MatHawks at Godwin JV Holiday Classic

19 JV MatHawks traveled to the Godwin JV Holiday Classic in Richmond, VA on December 30.  Freshman Tanner McCartney won the 125 lb title.  3rd place finishers were Michael Ande, Yaseen Khusnood, Fernando Rivera, Michael Phox, and Zach Frodge.  Good job to all!

Ours Wins Zac Jarzynka Memorial Ironman Tournament

JV MatHawks Kick Off Season Right

The MatHawks JV squad kicked off the season at the Lake Braddock Jaboree last night.  All members of the team showed great intensity, and determination.   The JV team will return to action next week at home.

VHSL Honors Coach Hill

Coach Roy Hill was honored by the Virginia High School Sports League (VHSL) on October 18 by recognizing him as a Regional Award of Merit winner for the Northern Region.  Coach Hill received his award in front of representatives from all VHSL schools at their Group Board meeting in Charlottesville.  Congratulations Coach Hill!!

Pre-Season Conditioning

The MatHawks will begin pre-season conditioning 6 September 2006 after school.  All individuals should meet in the weight room.  Anyone interested in in wrestling this coming season should attend.

2005-2006 Season Review

The 2006 edition of the MatHawks entered the season with high expectations and a sense of purpose due to the fact that in 2005, Hayfield did not win the Patriot District title for the first time in this decade.  Although, the team rallied to place 2^nd in the 2005 Northern Region Tourney, the MatHawks felt that they underachieved.  Read more...
