Steven Ours Wins State ChampionshipJunior Steven Ours won his first state title defeating Jared King of Great Bridge in the finals to lead the MatHawks to a 5th place finish at the 2007 Virginia AAA State Championships. Hayfield Wins Patriot District ChampionshipThe MatHawks won the 2007 Patriot District Championhsip, their 8th District title in the past 11 years. MatHawks fall to RobinsonOn rivalry Friday, Hayfield and Robinson both won 7 matches, but Robinson recorded 4 pins, and 2 technical falls to clain 38-37 victory over the MatHawks. Ours 2nd, MatHawks 6th at USMC Ultimate ChallengeJunior Steven Ours finished in 2nd place falling to Jared King of Great Bridge in the finals, while the MatHawks finished in 6th place as a team. JV MatHawks Kick Off Season RightThe MatHawks JV squad kicked off the season at the Lake Braddock Jaboree last night. All members of the team showed great intensity, and determination. The JV team will return to action next week at home. Charity Match ResultsThanks to everyone who came out and to those who made an additional donation to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. VHSL Honors Coach HillCoach Roy Hill was honored by the Virginia High School Sports League (VHSL) on October 18 by recognizing him as a Regional Award of Merit winner for the Northern Region. Coach Hill received his award in front of representatives from all VHSL schools at their Group Board meeting in Charlottesville. Congratulations Coach Hill!!

Read more... 2005-2006 Season ReviewThe 2006 edition of the MatHawks entered the season with high expectations and a sense of purpose due to the fact that in 2005, Hayfield did not win the Patriot District title for the first time in this decade. Although, the team rallied to place 2nd in the 2005 Northern Region Tourney, the MatHawks felt that they underachieved. Read more... |
