Position:  Assistant Coach

2nd Season

Coach Villanueva enters his 1st season as an assistant with the MatHawks.

Coach Jerome Villanueva fresh out of college wrestling will be helping the team out this year as an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the Hayfield Hawks. 

Coach Villanueva began his wrestling career in 1996.  He was a former District and Regional placer and a State qualifier for Hayfield.   Additionally, he has been awarded many of accolades for international style wrestling (Greco-Roman and Freestyle): for just a few he has been a Virginia State Games Champion in both styles, a Maryland State Freestyle Champion, and a two time member of the Virginia state National team.  Coach Villanueva continued his wrestling career at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT). 

Currently, Coach Villanueva works as a Personal Trainer at Sport and Health in Woodbridge, VA.  He graduated in 2005 earning his Bachelors of Science degree in the Science of Human Nutrition Food and Exercise at Virginia Tech and wrestled collegiately there for 5 years.  In his last year at Tech he was fortunate enough to run across a great coaching staff that consisted of Olympic Gold medalist Head Coach Tom Brands and other familiar names such as Wes Hand (Iowa), Doug Schwab(Iowa), Lee Fullhart(Iowa), and Nik Fakete(Michigan State).

Coach Villanueva also has help start this season on the right foot by running the pre-season Strength and Conditioning for the Mathawks.
