Cardillo Places 7th at Beast of the East

Senior Calvin Cardillo finished in 7th place at the Beast of the East, which is the toughest tournament in the nation.  Cardillo finished with a 4-2 record for the tournament.  Cardillo beat two seeded wrestlers, one by pin and one by fall, on his way to a 7th place finish.  In the medal match Cardillo defeated Brad Stroudt of Brandywine HS in Delaware by a score of 3-1.  Cardillo defeated Stroudt earlier in the championship rounds to move on to the Quarterfinals.

Senior Jonahan Romero, and sophomore Stephen Ours also had outstanding performances during the tournament.  Romero went 3-2 for the tournament with one win coming by fall and one by technical fall.  Ours finished the tournament 2-2 with one win coming by fall.

As a team the MatHawks scored 32 team points to finish in 56th place.  87 Teams were represented.
